Huh Gak – Memory of Your Scent

허각 (Huh Gak) – 향기만 남아 (Memory Of Your Scent)
It blows over to me from far away
The familiar scent that makes me think of you
Seeing as how I’m not over you yet makes me feel like a fool
Some day, you will scatter away like the wind

Only the scent remains and tortures me
I draw you out past my dull memories
The memories flow on top of the lonely wind
Who can comfort me when I’m this sad?

When I close my eyes, I think of you
I am left alone again and wandering these streets
Being pulled by a slight trembling, I suddenly lifted my head
Then I hear the song that we used to sing together

Only the scent remains and tortures me
I draw you out past my dull memories
The memories flow on top of the lonely wind
Who can comfort me when I’m this sad?

I want to hold onto you, who is getting farther away
But like always, I will forget you
Your faint memories, those beautiful memories
Only the scent that resembles you still remains

At some point, the sun is setting
It is getting farther away, leaving behind thick memories
In case I start to think of you again
I just live a day like nothing’s wrong

Will I be able to meet you again some day?
Will I be able to get over you through someone else?
Whoever you meet, you must be happy
Only your scent, that I can never see again, remains

What Da Font?

They are one of the best creations in computer history! If you love creating word art and graphic designs like me, fonts are indispensable in your artist toolbox. I get all my free and fun fonts from DaFont.com. On top of being free, installing a new font is easy-peasy too. All you have to do is download the font file from the website, unzip the individual files, and install into your computer. For detailed instructions, go to Dafont for help. The fonts are wonderfully designed and there are hundreds to choose from. If you have amazing design abilities, you should think about creating your own font.

I use fonts heavily to create unique cards for friends and family. But while fonts are amazing, it is very important to have a good program to design your word art. I personally don’t use anything fancy – just plain ole Microsoft Powerpoint. This gives you the ability to manipulate the placement of letters and add other graphics. On top of cardmaking, I also dabble in embroidery because I get so inspired by all the beautiful fonts.

Homemade Matcha Ice Cream

すべて抹茶 Subete Matcha Update!

Matcha Green Tea Ice Cream

Green Tea ice cream is my ultimate, ULTIMATE favorite flavor. Unfortunately, most ice cream parlors in America don’t carry green tea ice cream so I always end up getting a scoop of coffee. Thankfully someone came up with a homemade matcha ice cream recipe! Now i can have green tea ice cream anytime and all the time!

Recipe by Aeri’s Kitchen on Youtube – Homemade Green Tea Ice Cream (녹차 아이스크림)

Homemade Matcha Green Tea Ice Cream
INGREDIENTS:
2 tsp Green Tea Powder
2 cups Half and Half (16 oz)
4 Egg Yokes
½ Cup Sugar

DIRECTIONS:
1. Prepare the 4 yolks and combine with 1/2 cup of half and half into a bowl. Add the egg/half and half mixture into a small saucepan and cook on low heat for about 10 minutes (stir occasionally). This will make the egg yolk safe to eat.
2. In a medium bowl, combine 1/2 cup of sugar and 2 teaspoons of matcha powder. After cooking the egg mixture for 10 minutes, turn off the stove and add the matcha powder mixture into the saucepan. Stir well.
3. In the container you are freezing the ice cream with, combine the saucepan mixture with the rest of the half and half. Stir well.
4. Freeze the mixture and stir at intervals: Freeze for 3 hours and then mix the ice cream. Then stir again after 1 hour. Stir after 1 hour 2-3 more times.
Yield about 1 quart.

Water >Body >Water

Okay so I have been slacking off and ignoring my blog. What am I saying, I have been slacking off A LOT. Of course, each time I feel guilty and console myself that there is nothing to update but that isn’t true! Many exciting things have happened and in a way I was too busy living life in the moment. But I am getting back into the swing of things. I promise. Really!

So as a some-what spur of the moment post, I decided to educate you about the wonders of *momentous pause* WATER! Have you heard that you are suppose to “drink your weight in ounces everyday”?! Or how about “drink eight glasses a day”? Either way you should probably increase your water intake.

Water is the main component in your body. Water makes up about 60 percent of your body weight. So naturally it is vital to stay hydrated everyday! Also, despite the structural nature of human cells, every system in your body depends on H2O to carry out chemical processes that keeps your cells healthy and functioning. Not only is water an essential component to cell heath, it also carries out major bodily functions like flushing out toxins and carrying nutrients all over your body.

The Institute of Medicine determined that an adequate intake (AI) for men is roughly 3 liters (about 13 cups) of total beverages a day. The AI for women is 2.2 liters (about 9 cups) of total beverages a day. So drinking eight 8-ounce glasses of water a day is about 1.9 liters, which isn’t that different from the Institute of Medicine recommendations. The “8 x 8” rule can be a an easy phrase for you to remember to at least get close to what you need in a day.

Lack of water can lead to dehydration, a condition that occurs when you don’t have enough water in your body to carry out normal functions. Even mild dehydration can drain your energy and make you tired. So if you are getting headaches (a sign of dehydration) and feeling tired (another sign) you should definitely chug some water! It is good practice to drink at least two glasses of water when you wake up or when you eat breakfast. This will give you a boost for the rest of the day. This is especially important if you are going to have a busy day – too busy to stop and eat and drink properly.

Remember that while all beverages add to your daily water intake, it is important to drink mainly water. Caffeinated and alcoholic drinks will dehydrate you instead of the reverse. If you have a hard time drinking so much plain water, you can add low calorie flavoring like Mio and crystal light. Personally I love tea (even though it is lightly caffeinated).
